Yo guys!
I just got back Monday from a 2 week trip to Beijing China and had a
sick time. I went over for the CX-games competition and to check out
some sites. The first week i was there was mainly just being a tourist
witch was awesome. Got to see the forbidden city and some cool stuff.

The contest was on the weekend and had Dirt And park. They invited
about 10 international riders and 10 Asian riders for each event so
was a decent turn out. It was the first time China had put Action
sports on there biggest TV channel CCTV also.. CCTV has about 15
channels and approx 100 million viewers over china so it was a big deal
for sure..

I ended up getting 3rd in both the Park and Dirt competitions and I am
real happy about that. Here's a few pics from my travels.

Hey Guys,
Been back in the states for a week now and back on the bike for 2. My
ribs are a bit sore still but it feels good to be riding again.
Saturday I competed in the Vitalbmx game of Bike. it was a fun day but
very long and I ended up going out in the second round to Aussie Kyle
Baldock.

I'm about to be real busy the next month. Heading to Utah Sunday to
shoot and film some riding. Then Vegas for the final stop of the dew
tour. Then China for CX games. Going to be busy but fun and I'm stoked
to be back on my bike!

Rob Wise On The Mend

Well as some of you may have heard Rob Wise had another bad crash the other night. Rob has been working on a section in Shawn "Elf" Walters new film called Killjoy. I just talked with Shawn and he was saying it was a pretty freak deal, Rob had already filmed some heavy clips that day and this was something Rob was not to stressed on. Sounds like Rob broke his hip and left arm in the fall but it sounds like he wont need surgery so that's a good thing. Rob has had a hell of a year despite being injured a couple of serious times this year. Get well soon Rob and hopefully you can walk in your wedding in 4 short weeks. GT Bicycles

Dave Dillewaard in Ocean City for Dew Tour Round 1

Team GT Rider Dave Dillewaard was in Ocean City, Maryland for the opening round of the Dew Action Sports Tour this past weekend. After the event we took a minute to catch up with Dave and this is what he had to say.

Yeah we are here in Ocean City and the course is massive. It's been a real fun week and I'm stoked I brought my board shorts because it's been a hot one. With 60 other riders out there, it can get a bit sketchy during practice but I was still able to put a few lines together. I'm happy with how I rode! I finished out of the top 10 this weekend but the Portland round is only a couple of weeks away so I will give it another go there. Portland is a cool City and I will be trying to make it in both Dirt and Park at that event and it should be a fun week. I want to thank GT for all the support and I will keep you all posted with how Portland goes in a couple of weeks. Cheers, Dave

Hey guys, just finished a fun little 2 weeks of activities. I
headed out to Canberra for Cam Whites Dirt Jam last weekend and it was a
killer time! His jumps were dialed and a lot of people turned up for the jam. I'm
not sure how much money was raised for ARF but I'm sure it was a lot. I was
just taking it easy during the jam doing trains with Yonny and Colin
Mackay, and it was so damn fun. At the start of the jam I ejected
over the last jump that's about 15 foot tall and 25 foot or longer.. I
thought I was done for but some how I tucked and rolled out of it and
could keep riding. All the riders killed it and Cam did such a great job of putting on a sick jam.

Rob Wise, Mike Aitken & Tate Roskelly decided to take a little road trip out to San Diego for the week. On there way Rob dropped me this little update with one of the coolest spots I have ever seen.

We got to ride this water park for about 20 minutes before we were held captive for about 5 hours. After dealing with the police we had to break our cars out of this gated parking lot. It was quite the adventure. RW

I just got back from one of the best trips I've had in a long time. We went to St Thomas in the virgin islands. I was stoked a good part of the Utah crew got to make it on the trip as well. I haven't been on a trip with those guys in quite some time so that was awesome. We didn't really know what to expect when we got there other than that there was a lot of beautiful scenery. The first couple days we just tried getting settled in and lining up cars for the trip. After all that was done we started searching the whole island for spots. There was a lot more things to ride than I thought there was going to be. We were going to try and make it to the other islands close by but we had so much stuff we wanted to do we didn't have time. We found a pool that was on the cliffs but it was full to the top so we decided to get as many hoses as possible and drain it. It took three days but it was worth it. there was this little burger stand down the street from the house we would hang out at every night. The local kids that rode bikes would bomb hills all night long so of course we had to join in. Funnest time ever. We were there for 11 days and I think it wasn't enough time it was over before we knew it. Craziest part of the trip was the last day before we left to the airport. There was a crash landing at the St Thomas airport that's not exactly what you wanna see before you fly somewhere. But we made it home safe. I gotta say a huge thanks to everyone that made that trip possible!!!!

Dilly sent over a little update form the weekend. (Dilly) I went out filming for my part in the New Demolition Video that is currently in the works called "Last
Chance". It was a fun little rail hop spot
and got a few thing so that was good. You can see the cloud in the
back ground coming in so we got lucky to get a few clips in just in
time!

I'm plan on going out as much as possible over the next month. It's coming down to
deadline time and hopefully I can find some new spots and get finished with
my section.

Hey guys,

I just got back to Australia and it's been a good week so far! We have had a few rainy days but other than that its sunny hot and humid. I hit up a Xmas Jam at Browns plains skate park on Sunday. It was set to be a real fun day but I only got to ride for about 45 minutes when the wind and clouds rolled over and it poured down. That Sucked but it was still good to catch up with my mates. I plan on hitting a few good spots later in the week. Keen on finishing up my part for the Demolition video for sure!

Aaaaand I’m back....After months of recovery and physical therapy I finally got cleared to ride the track! The past five and half months since my surgery have flown by and I headed out to my local track to see how it felt to be back in action. I have to admit I haven’t been that nervous in a long time, not because I haven’t ridden in a while, but because it was the first time I was going to truly feel and experience what riding would be like after surgery. I had a great warm up and began to feel really comfortable after a few laps, and I have to say it didn’t feel all that bad! While I could still feel where my injury had happened it felt 10 times better than some of the practice sessions I had right before deciding to get fixed. I rode for 45 minutes and words can’t explain how pumped I was to be back doing what I love… I honestly could have ridden the whole day. I only had a few dead sailors and thankfully no cases…baby steps! To be honest I didn’t really get off the ground much but WOW! what a great feeling to be back on track! I have teamed up with Clay Porter for a project we are working on and he caught all of this on tape. Stay tuned for details on my collaboration with Clay as I am really excited about it and I think you will be too!

I also had the opportunity to do a photo shoot for Leatt Brace and to promote my signature brace out now (see photo of the ad'). It is cool to be supported by a company like Leatt who is so committed to the safety of athletes.

I will be at the Grands this year and hopefully the last time watching as I hope to get back to racing in Reno. I plan on practice Thursday and just hanging out the rest of the weekend. This will be my 17th trip to Oklahoma for thanksgiving. Pretty crazy.

Dilley's Down Time

Hey Guys,

Its been a slow week here. We have been getting some crazy storms pretty much every day so its been hard to ride.

The wrist is at about 85% right now, and I have been trying to do some weights and get it strong again and I can tell it's working. Feeling better every day, Cam Whites Dirt Jam is on this weekend coming but I wont be hitting that this year. I would but I think its too soon to be hitting 40 foot + jumps. One wrong move on those things and its over, I'm better of just taking it easy and get 100% before I hit any massive jumps.

So here is a pic of what the weather is like today. Going to rain any minute now so I'm going to dial my bike in so when it stops and I can roll around.

A Life-Changing Story

Not that anyone needed an excuse to ride a bike, but have a read of this letter we got from a GT fan:

Hello, my name is Tim and I am writing you this letter just to let you know of the successes you have helped me achieve.

I am a 35 year old truck driver in Ontario Canada. Up until June 2009 I was an overweight smoking asthmatic non-physical truck driver. June was the month when my life began to change. A friend of mine who was also a driver asked me to come for a ride. Needless to say after that first ride I thought I was going to die from exhaustion but that fresh air and blood boiling adrenaline got into my soul so I called a old friend of mine who use to be one of the best bike mechanics in the town where I live and told him I need a better bike.

So he took me to Mountaintop cycle and I sold my old car and bought a 2009 GT Marathon sport. I found myself going bike crazy. I now have a list of friends I can ride with almost at any time, I lost 40lbs, my blood pressure is great, my cardio is spot on and I put over 1000 kilometers on my GT from July till November. Thanks to you for making a bike so perfect for me to ride; thank you so much. In 2010 I plan to start competing in some racing and I hope to put double the kms on this year. Got to go now; going to play in the snow on my GT.

It's been a chill few weeks for me since I have been back in Australia. I have just been hanging out with the Fam and catching up with my mates.

My wrist is feeling good and I have been doing some physical therapy and stretches to get it back into action. I should be back cruising around in 2 weeks so hopefully that goes well! Im excited for 2010 and ready to ride!

Tyler's Side Flight Recap

Last weekend I went down south for a contest that was put on by X-Fusion called the Side Flight Championships. It was the first of it's kind and the object of the contest was to see how whipped out you could get your bike in the air and bring it back before landing. Riders were judged on amplitude, style, and how sideways they got. They have this same event in the X-Games for Moto but this was the first for bikes.

I came pretty prepared and even built a practice jump in the woods at home to feel out my whips before I went to the contest. I also built up a special bike for the event that I thought would be well suited for the course. It's a prototype GT frame called the Ruckus 7 and I built it up as light as possible to help me whip it around. I even put a semi slick rear tire on it to help me gain as much speed as I could into the jumps which were super big and definitely suited my style. It started out with a 45 foot slightly stepped down double into a 40 foot step up and ended with a 30 foot hip jump. There were lots of different types of riders that came to this event from top dirt jumpers to world cup downhill racers. We had a practice session Friday evening and once we started riding it was evident that there were about 6 or 7 people that were standing out, including Thomas Vanderham, Brendan Fairclough, Kevin Aiello, Ryan Howard and Sean McLendon. I felt good and never really stepped out of my comfort zone in practice and was feeling that I could possibly take the title the following day.

On Saturday we woke up to howling winds but tried to make it happen anyways. I think it's safe to say that everyone that tried to jump on Saturday had a near death experience. The wind was coming head on and killed all of the speed that we had going into the first jump. We were all optimistic about making it work until until we saw Cody Warren sprinting into the jump and still not gain enough speed to make it over the landing. He came up about 3 feet short and broke both of his cranks off on impact. Once we saw that, we decided it wasn't safe and that we should wait it out in hopes that the wind would stop. Unfortunately it never did. The wind just kept getting worse so the event holders decided to call it. Results were then based on the practice session the day prior and it was rider judged.

Later that night we went to a local sports bar where they announced the results and they went as follows:

1st: Sean Mclendon
2nd: Tyler McCaul
3rd: Brendan Fairclough
4th: Ryan Howard
5th: Thomas Vanderham

I was bummed that the contest ended the way it did, but I was super pumped with the outcome. There's already talk of trying to hold these types of contests more throughout the year and it's something that I think could get really big in the future. It was a fun contest that wasn't as dangerous as most but still put on a really good show. Hope to see more in the future like it!

A Post-Op Dilley Checks In

Hey guys,

Just had my one week check up at the docs for my wrist. Everything is looking great they said and I got the OK to head back to Australia on Monday. He said I can start pedaling around in 2 weeks and start jumping in about 6 weeks! so hopefully after that time Ill be riding with no pain in my wrist!

I also just finished up with my signature flix trix finger bike too, so hopefully they will be out in stores soon!

Dilley is Getting Fixed!

Hey guys,

I'm heading out to San Diego on Tuesday to meet up with Dr Chao and get my wrist fixed! I get new xrays Tuesday and they will book me in for surgery Wednesday. I plan on heading back to Australia after surgery and be chilling out there while I recover! Not happy about surgery but I'm happy I will be healing and getting better for next year's season!

On Saturday night I had a little in prompt premier of the ride bmx range of motion dvd. Most of the Greenville locals made it out and everyone though it was a decent flick! Here is a pic of my lounge room filled with riders.

So next time i'll be updating with my wrist fixed! Can't wait.

Tyler at AT's Showdown and His New Sponsor

On Satuday there was a contest at the Cow Palace in San Francisco called AT's Showdown. It was a head to head format with an hour qualifying jam beforehand to determine seeding for the finals. There were about 25 or so riders and that got whittled down to 16 riders. From there it was like dual slalom where the 1st place qualifier does one run against the 16th place qualifier and so on til it's down to 2. There were 4 judges that determined who would advance and who would be sitting on the sidelines.

The course was biggg and definitely suited my style. I felt real good during the qualifying jam and when the results came up, I was in 1st!! I was feeling pretty confident and made it to the round of 8 easily. Then I was matched up with Jamie Goldman who was the 8th place qualifier.

He threw down one of the best runs of the day and ended up knockin me out of the game. I was pretty bummed and wished that I had strategized my run a little better to beat his but it was all good, he deserved it and later went on to get 2nd place. My brother Cam won and I was super pumped for him. I ended up in 5th and was happy with that, but have higher hopes for the next contest I do. In other news, I recently signed with X Fusion and there was a press release that came out about it the other day. I shot with local photographer Justin Brantley and we worked hard for two long days of shooting to get the shots. Hey everyone,

It's been a while since I've done an update and I've been up to a lot the past few weeks so I figured I'd send one out. At the end of last month was a jump jam at the post office jumps in my hometown of Aptos called the "Ham and Steeze Jam." It's always fun when events get organized here because this is the place that I grew up riding and digging at since I was 10 years old. The beginning of the day started with an amateur contest and then it ended with a pro demo that had awards for best trick, best steeze, and best overall rider. I rode real well and had a lot of fun and ended up getting 2nd place in all three of these categories. There were no prizes for 2nd here but it still felt good to know that I was up there in all of the categories. The day after the jam, I worked on a bike check on my GT Ruckus with Jordan from Pinkbike. It should be pretty entertaining so check for that coming up on the Pinkbike homepage sometime soon.

Since then I was lucky enough to get the chance to go out to Ray's MTB Park in Cleveland, Ohio for their grand opening. GT sent me out there and I met up with Romo to shred some of the best indoor riding in the world. There was a super big turnout and Ray set us, along with a few other riders, up in the kitchen and we served food to all of the customers and local riders.

It was a fun and different way to interact with everyone and then we all rode together after everyone was stuffed to their mouth. Some of my BMX hero's were in attendance as well and I got to ride with Anthony Napolitan and Daniel Dhers. Watching those dudes ride in their own element is nuts and I definitely had one of my favorite sessions ever riding with them in Ray's new "Rhythm Room." That's where I spent most of my time because the room is filled with box jumps of all shapes and sizes. Hips, step-ups, step-downs, and rollers make the big set feel like dirt jump trails and it made me feel just at home. I also spent a lot of time in the foam pit working on dialing in some new tricks and that was definitely productive for me. I finally figured out my 360 downside tailwhips and made more progress on the infamous bike-flip. That one still needs a little more practice though. Hopefully next time I make it out there, I'll be throwin them over the big set in the Rhythm Room! Thanks to GT for sending me out there and to Ray and his crew for the hospitality...I wish I could've stayed longer!

I got back from that Trip on Monday and then jumped right into filming with local videographer Josh Talatzko at the Post Office jumps once again. He had a cable cam set up across the span of the jump set and this was the first time anyone had one out there. I got a few good shots until about 10 minutes into shooting when I took one of the worst crashes ever. I just screwed up on a no footed can and next thing I knew I was on the ground. I hit my head super hard but luckily my Giro helmet saved my life. It was crushed but luckily my head wasn't. I was pretty concussed though and I haven't started riding yet since then. I'm taking a few days off to let my brain heal up a bit! There is a video of the crash and it ended up getting Video of the Day on Pinkbike the other day and already has 17,000 views. Not the best way to get views but hey, I'm glad it was on film! Check it out..

I plan to get back on the bike again tomorrow and take it slow. I'll be preparing for AT's Showdown at the Cow Palace in San Francisco this coming weekend so hopefully I'll be ready to go by then. After that I'll be preparing for the X Fusion Side Flight Championships in San Diego on the weekend of the 5th. It's a contest to see who can do the best whip and it's something that I'm pretty excited about. I'll let you know how all of that goes for me.

GT Launches No-S-Tune for Dealers

Bethel, CT – GT Bicycles has launched No-S-Tune – a basic concept in which you do not have to spend any extra money on custom shock valving to make your bike work properly.

Since 1998, GT has offered a patented suspension technology that allows the rider to get the most out of his/her suspension with minimal effort in pedaling. This all without a special shock or custom tuning on the valves. In an effort to raise the bar even more, in 2001 GT simplified its suspension system to make service and maintenance even easier. By using common parts found in any shop and making the pivots easy to service, GT has found that No-S-Tune is exactly what dealers and consumers are looking for.

A Quick Hello From Dave

Hey guys, I just got back from Orlando dew tour last night, I drove down there from NC which wasn't too bad.

I was going into the comp with a bit of a hurt wrist so I wasn't too excited. I rode dirt on Thursday and my wrist wasn't holding up too well. I ended up in 24th place. Saturday was park prelims and I still could hardly pump around the course, it was real annoying cause I was looking forward to this contest but couldn't even give it my all. I ended up taking it easy and took 30th place.

I went to the doctor this morning in Greenville and had some x-rays. everything looks normal but it does not feel like it. I have a MRI appointment tomorrow at 4 30 to get it checked out more.

I'm flying to Cali Friday morning for the Ride BMX video "Range Of Motion" premiere that I have a full section in. The premier is Friday night at the Ride offices in Orange County. Then I will be in Cali for the weekend. Back home Monday and then to the doc Tuesday to see the results of the MRI. Hopefully nothing too crazy going on in there. Until then I will keep you posted!

The 4th Annual Mountain Bike Jamboree, hosted by the Delaware Trail Spinners, is a celebration for mountain biking in the Mid-Atlantic region. This is a no cost event, with free food, and free entertainment.

I'm sure a lot of you have heard, but the guys at Ray's MTB have been working their fingers to the bone getting ready for the 2009/2010 season.

Team Jelly Belly Headed Down Under

Hey, did you know that GT is the official bike of Jelly Belly, the longest running sponsorship in domestic cycling? Actually, the JB guys were instrumental in helping us design the new GTR platform.

We asked them what they were looking for in a new bike. It's no surprise that they wanted super high BB and head tube stiffness. We tool this into consideration, and when developing the GTR carbon bikes we incorporated Shimano's BB86 standard for the bottom bracket and we created a brand new GT-exclusive full carbon fork that tapers from 1 1/8" at the top to 1 1/4" at the bottom. I can tell you, and the guys agree, that this is one of the stiffest, most precise handling bikes we have ever created.

I just got this email from JB and they are headed down to Australia to take part in the Jayco Herald Sun Tour...

"Jelly Belly arrives in Australia this week to compete in one of the worlds oldest stage races, the Jayco Herald Sun Tour. As their third year participating in the event, Team Director Danny van Haute said he is looking forward to competing in this late-season race.

This is definitely one of our favorites throughout the year, he said.

Will Routley has competed in this race before, however this is his first Sun Tour with the Jelly Belly Squad.

It is always exciting to do a race with such a good history, he explained. This race is so well organized and has a lot of support in NSW, (the state in which it takes place) it is great to be a part of.

When asked what was unique to racing in Australia, Kiel Reijnen explained the difference in racing style down under.

From what Ive heard, racing in Australia is pretty aggressive, Reijnen said. They have a lot of fast guys, especially sprinters, and I imagine they wont do down at their home race without a fight.

A difference from Australia to racing in other countries is that there are kangaroos and a lot of little bugs that will kill you, Routley laughed. On the racing side, though, the Australian racing is tough and aggressive. It's the kind I like.

The Jayco Herald Sun Tours 58th year runs from October 11 through 17. Jelly Belly is bringing Will Routley, Kiel Reijnen, Bernard van Ulden, Brad Huff, Matt Rice, Matt Crane and Johnny Clarke to contest the final trophy this year. The Rest...of the Kamikaze Story

Anyone who follows the action at Mountain Bike Action may have seen the big ring setup that EC used to take the Mammoth Kamikaze win. We'll call it the Mood Ring, since I know EC was in a damn good mood after winning!

Just like Paul Harvey, we have a "Rest of the Story" from EC's win. Here's some "inside the pits" info that you may not have heard about...

After surveying the course, EC knew that it was going to take something special to win it. Horsepower isn't the issue, as the Electric Catfish has been known to hold over 1700 watts in training. The right gearing was the topic of discussion during practice. EC had an old (I'm pretty sure it had sideburns from the 70's) 56-tooth (that's not a typo) chainring laying around and thankfully for EC, his mechanic John, "Sniper" Canepa was ready to Frankengear EC's Fury to give him every advantage he needed.

Why the Frankengear? A couple of reasons. First, our boys at e*thirteen make some kick ass chainguides, but they only fit up to a 40-tooth ring. Second, the bolt diameter of current DH cranks doesn't jive with the bolt diameter of EC's Mood Ring.

According to Sniper, all it took was a bunch of e*thirteen parts, an old drill, a dull drill bit, some misc. nuts and bolts to hold it all together, and a couple of hours to build.

The result, as you can see is that something special that EC needed.

Spot-on effort Sniper! Here's a comparison shot so you can see just how big this thing really was. And for reference, Sniper's got a melon on him that would make a roadside produce vendor jealous. (I kid because I love, Snipe!)

Greetings from the other side of the world (well, for some at least). We're getting started on another gorgeous day here in the 'Shafen. It's officially Day 1 of Eurobike and we are planning for a LONG day. The good news is that GT is hosting it's annual beer party in the booth tonight and Hans will be there to sign autographs. Maybe we'll see if we can't get a few more volunteers to put on their best Hans face. Be on the lookout.

We finished getting the GT booth set up for the big show today. It was a long day, but we fought through. THe 2010 stuff looks TIGHT, and we were even able to bring a couple of new bikes to the show. Our big reveal is tomorrow, but here's a couple of teasers for you

It's always really stressful getting set up for the biggest bike trade show in the world. One thing that's really important is to keep a good sense of humor. Things were getting a little dicey around lunch so we decided to have a contest to see who could make the greatest Hans face. Here's MDL and GT's Mark (our GM) doing their best Hans Rey imitations.

So we are off to Austria tonight for a big comapany-wide opening dinner. I'm looking forward to some shrimp on the barbie.

We Made it to the Motherland!

We made it! After 3 airports, 10 hours of flying, one viewing of Fast & Furious (ouch), an hour train ride, a 45 minute ferry,a 2 mile walk (interrupted by few local brews), and a 10 Euro cab ride we made it to the Hotel Fuhr in Friedrichshafen, Germany.

Our main PR man MDL (names have been shortened to protect the innocent) and I are in what I can only describe as the Honeymoon Suite. Note to anyone traveling to Germany..."Double Occupancy" apparently means spooning. Check out the tour of our lavish digs.

At any rate, we're getting synchronized with the local time zone and building up our tolerance to dark beer and foods that rhyme with "itzl". Tomorrow is the first day of setup. It's going to be a long (but good) day.

We're Off to F-Shafen

Once again, the time has come where the GT peeps head across the pond to the land of schnitzel, leiderhosen and dark beer for the annual pilgrimage otherwise known as Eurobike.

Now most of my USA homies have probably heard of Interbike, that other cycling industry annual pilgrimage to a land of things a little more "adult". Eurobike is not this show. Eurobike is definitely more relaxing. But it's also more exciting. Aside from manufacturer's private shows for dealers, Eurobike is arguably the first opportunity that we in the bike industry have to show off our 2010 stuff to the masses. And when I say masses, I mean it.

Cycling in Europe is en entirely different being. It's a way of life. It's a mindset. It's kind of what NASCAR is here in the states, mixed with what football (aka: soccer to most of us) is in Spain. And when the biggest cycling trade show in the world opens its doors to the general public on the last day, it's INSANE. Fortunately, I'm in focus groups on that day. Otherwise I'd be butts to nuts with every other bike geek in Europe (and yes, I fall into the bike geek category).

At any rate, Eurobike 2009 is shaping up to be pretty exciting for GT. We already launched our 2010 lineup to our distributors and dealers, but we have a little surprise in store for them and for the media. Well, in terms of travel it's not little. What is it you may ask? Sorry, PR would be PISSSED at me if I let the cat out of the bag too early. But here's a little teaser.

Don't worry, I'll do my best to provide updates when I'm over there. You can also follow me on Twitter while I'm over there @robbz27. Finally, the new GT website is in its final stages of testing. I'd say by the time we get back from Eurobike http://www.gtbicycles.com/ will have its transformation complete. It's like a cyber version of the Swan.

Just got this update from Dilley. who's been having what most would consider a dream summer, traveling around the world, exploiting every park and dirt jump he can...

"Hey guys, I just got home from the dew tour in Portland last night and it was a good time. I had a lot of fun on the park course and I ended up geting 13th in the prelims. The level of riding going on these days is crazy and I'm stoked to be able to be in there. I'm home now for 3 days then off to Cali for the last of the ride bmx dvd filming trips. Sounds like we are going to be riding street around the San Diego and So Cal area for about 10 days, can't wait.

Then I will be out in Cali where I'm going to try and ride a lot of dirt and then head to the Salt Lake Dew Tour the middle of next month. I'm not going to be home in Greenville for over a month so thats pretty crazy. Just adds to an already busy year. stoked I'm heathly! Cheers, Dave"

Dill$y Checks in After the X-Games

GT's Dave Dillewaard dropped us this quick note to let us know how the X-Games treated him...and how the theme park treated his lady.

Hey guys. Just got done with a busy week following a busy 2 weeks before that. Xgames was really fun! I got about 3 hours practice total for the comp which I wasn't too stoked on but ended up having a good time. I got 16th in park. Not the best result but glad to be in one piece.

I hit up the box jump triples event on Thursday also. That was a wild time where you have to go heads up against other riders to move forward to the next round. I beat Laguna in the first round but Josh Hult tail wipped my head of in the second round.

Other than that my family was in town and I got to spend some time with them. We headed to universal studios Sunday and here is a pic of me and my misses after the Jurassic park ride hehe.

Oh s#it I just saw Richard Simmons walk passed at the lax airport lololol.

Holy smokes, it's been too long since I posted. Sorry about that. So much going on lately. We had our Sales Meeting in Park City, UT, a Press Camp in Sun Valley, ID and photo shoots everywhere in between.

It was great to see all our athletes in Park City. I got some pretty epic rides in and all in all, I think it went great. All in all I'm pretty pumped that it's over too.

But enough about me. EC has been keeping busy since the show. They visited Al's Cycle & Hobby in Medford, OR on their way to the Ashland DH event. As a new owner of an R/C car, I'm jealous I didn't gt to go on this visit. Oh, and the riding didn't look too bad either!

It has taken some time to prepare this email (even though it has never been far from my mind) to thank both organizations for the fact that taking pride of place in my garage is a GT Carbon Force Expert.

When I showed my wife a picture of the prize her comment was simply "Oh yeah !!!!". Not her usual articulate way of summing things up, but gets straight to the point.

I have now had the pleasure of taking it for quite a few rides and have one problem, I will never want to ride a bike that is not as good as the GT. I will never be the greatest rider but this bike some how manages makes me smoother and faster than I previously was.

I could go on and on but would, again, like to thank Mountain Biking Australia and Monza Imports (especially Steven Robinson) for the fantastic prize. Both parties were, strangely enough, happy and extremely helpful in handing over the great prize. Now that I have ridden and admired it I don't think I will be able to let anyone near it.

I am now a GT convert and a very happy cyclist.

Patrick, when we hear excitement like that, you can bet your ass we are all happy to hand over a bike like the Force Carbon Expert. Speaking from experience, our favorite part is the fact that you wife was actually excited about you getting a new bike.

DH/4XWorld Cup race

The GT Factory MTB team is in Andorra this weekend for another DH/4XWorld Cup race. This weekend is the first taste of the "real" World Cupweather the team has gotten this year - the forecast for the weekendcalls for rainy and snowy weather. Yuck! The team was on the racecourse yesterday for the pre-race course walk. The photos attached show GT rippers, Mick Hannah and Marc Beaumont discussing their lines and challenges for the weekend.

GT Takes over Ray's MTB

Man oh man, I owe an apology to everyone out there. Things have been fast and furious lately. In addition to moving over from the 'Goose, I spent a week in CA at our Lake Forest office as well as Sea Otter. I'm trying to keep my head above water. If anyone has any GT water wings, (or can get them made) I could definitely use a pair!

So it turns out I'm not the only one keeping busy out there. Tyler McCaul has been representing GT out there (albeit shirtless). I just got this update with some pics:

Hey Everybody,

Just wanted to give you all a quick update on what I've been up to the past few weeks. I haven't done many of these in the past but I wanna start doing them regularly.

I saw most of you out at Sea Otter but for those of you that weren't there it was a good time for sure. I raced dual and downhill and had a blast. I ended up 46th in the Pro Downhill which I was pretty happy with considering how many people were entered and I wasn't to far off of the pace. As for dual slalom, I had a little bobble in qualifying that cost me a transfer spot by only .1 seconds. I was bummed for sure but it was still super fun and I think that I got some real good shots with the media over the weekend.

The following Monday after Sea Otter was our annual post office dirt jump jam in Aptos, California. We had a real good turnout of riders and media and people were real stoked on how it turned out. I landed my first double tailwhip that day too so I was really happy with that. Theo from Allout Productions got a really good shot of it so keep an out for that in his next film.

I'm in the airport right now on my way home from Grand Junction, CO for the Ranchstyle Jam. It was supposed to be a pretty small comp that I decided to come too just cause I had nothing better to do this weekend but it ended up with a really good turnout. It was a lot more fun than I ever expected and I ended up getting podium in every event that I entered. On Saturday they had a dual slalom race with a real unique track that was about 50 seconds long and super fast. There were about 50 or so people entered in the Pro class and I ended up taking the bronze medal. I wanted the win real bad but I made a mistake in the semi finals forcing me to settle for third. Sunday was the day of the Slopestyle Jam and I ended up getting third in that and winning myself $500 bucks! I also won the best trick contest that took place after that comp by tailwhipping the biggest jump on the course. It was a big 40+ foot double and it was definitely one of the scariest things that I've ever done. Justin Olsen, who's shooting pics for a Decline article on this contest, got one of the raddest pics I've seen in awhile so that made it all worth it. Over all it was a real good time and I definitely think it was a worthwhile trip for me. Keep an out for the article on the Ranchstyle Jam in Decline Magazine sometime within the next few months or so.

I'm home for a few days after this and then I'm gonna be headed off to Port Angeles, WA for the first round of the Pro Gravity Race Tour. Since Qashqai got cancelled this year (and I would normally be in Europe for that right now) I'm trying to keep busy and fill my schedule up as much as possible so I'm stoked to be able to squeeze a few races in there. After that trip I'm gonna hit the dirt jumps hard and try to learn as many new tricks as possible before the next few contests. I'm also gonna be preparing for the US Open next month as well. I'll keep ya guys updated on how that goes and any other events that I go to in the mean time.

I wanna thank everybody for all the help and support that I received at Sea Otter. Being with the GT team is a whole new experience for me and I was so happy to have all of that help throughout the weekend. Looking forward to the following years to come working with everybody. 2009 Fontana City Nationals

GT Bicycles kept their winning streak alive by finishing the weekend with stellar results at the 2009 Fontana City Nationals held at Southridge Park located in Fontana, CA. This is the third year that the famous "Fontana" has held at a national-level event and this year provided more excitement than ever. The event was a solid success once again with an impressive turnout of racers and spectators alike. Being one of the first races of the year on the national race circuit, many top pros were in attendance to test their new bikes and pre-season fitness. Perfect weather the whole weekend kept the fans happy and the course conditions dry and fast.

Saturday consisted of Mountain Cross and this year's race course was recently improved by Team GT's own Eric Carter. The course was dry, dusty and loose which made it very challenging for everyone who rode it. Joining Carter in the gate were many top pros such as Brian Schmith, Blake Carney and Dale Holmes; it was going to be an exciting evening of racing.....and exciting it was! The Pro finals consisted of Dale Holmes, Blake Carney, Eric Carte, and <>

Sunday was host to the downhill race and with a very challenging course layout, all the riders were anxious to complete their runs. The course consisted of technical rock sections and fast, loose and open sections. Team GT's Eric Carter and Kevin Aiello just wrapped up podium finishes one week prior at the Shimano Winter Series and they were both hungry to return to the podium especially at the first national race of the year. Well it wasn't hard for the seasoned veteran and rookie pro to show the crowd exactly what they could do. With the majority of all the top pros already past the finish line everyone was waiting for Carter and Aiello to come through and it was worth the wait......Carter 1st, Aiello 2nd! A few more riders came through the finish line but didn't come close to the times of the two GT downhill racers. Carter just added another win to his already impressive list of recent wins at Fontana. Aiello was only 3/10sec behind Carter and now heads to South Africa for Round

Also making the drive from Lake Tahoe, CA was GT Dirt Coalition rider Joel Baty who placed 13th in Pro Super-D and followed up with a strong 3rd place finish in Expert Cross-Country. Congrats Joel!

Demo Prep

Louis has been burning the candle at both ends for the past week getting everything dialed in for the 2009 Demo program. Then again, it takes a lot of work to build out a new 16' trailer and assemble 30 new bikes. That's right, kids, GT's demo program kicked it up a notch. No, we cranked it up to 11 and broke the knob off (well, it's at least hanging by a thread).

Not only did we add bikes and a trailer, be sure to check us out at Sea Otter for a glimpse at the sexiest graphics package on either side of the Mississippi!

Here's a couple of lame pictures of Louis and Paco (Our Golden Bike Mechanic) getting things all dialed in. But give me a break...I had JUST gotten back from my maiden voyage on my new GTR Team. SWEETEST road bike I have ever ridden...and I've ridden a few.

Don't forget...if you are in Cleveland this weekend you can try out a GT at Ray's MTB all day Saturday and Sunday.

EC Pops his Cherry

As if EC's resume wasn't rich enough, he can now add "Non Linear Editing" to his list of accomplishments. For those of you who get the weekly race updates, you know EC has been tearing it up at the Fontana Series. Las Cruces Cruisin'

Our Demo guy Louis was out in New Mexico after supporting Team IMBA at the 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo last weekend. Afterwards, he got out for a ride with some guys he had been in touch with over the past year. Sounds like they had a great time.

GT BMX race team riders Joey Bradford and Eric Rupe made a shop visit this week to Bicycle Bananas in Reno, NV. The shop owner Dan was happy to have the guys stop in to say hi, sign autographs, hand out stickers and just hang out. Bicycle Bananas is a long standing Reno shop, that’s way cool and has a really friendly and knowledgeable staff. Both Bradford and Big Daddy Rupe had their personal race bikes on hand to show off and let people see just how cool the 2009 line of GT BMX race bikes is. The visit was a real success, and the team looks forward to visiting more GT dealers this season. Thanks to Joe Gomes, the GT area rep, for helping the team at the shop and supporting GT bicycles.

Dillsy Heads home to Australia

Hey guys,

I've been home in Australia for a week now and I'm lovin' it. Riding every day and sweating like crazy ha ha. I'm heading to a king of dirt comp this weekend just by my house, gonna hang out with some mates and just chill. I'm definitely not ready for a comp and I'm not even gonna try to ride, but it will be good to catch up with some blokes. Here is a pic of me from the weekend in Beenleigh. GT BMX Race Team Visits Local Bike Shop

GT BMX race team riders Joey Bradford and Eric Rupe made a shop visit this week to Retro City Cycles in Orlando, FL. Shop manager Dano was happy to have the guys stop in to say hi, sign autographs, hand out stickers and just hang out. The shop isn’t much of a BMX race shop, but that just gave the team the opportunity to bring Dano up to speed on what the BMX world up to these days. Rupe had his personal race bike on hand to show off and let people see just how cool the 2009 line of GT race bikes are. The visit was a real success, as the team looks forward to visiting more GT dealers as the season goes on. Thanks Dano and Jessica G.

BMX Race Team Rocks The Block Shop

The GT BMX race team—Randy Stumpfhauser, Mike Day, and Eric Rupe--was in the Lancaster, CA this week for the ABA So Cal Nationals and paid a visit today to The Block Shop. The shop visit was the best visit so far in 2008, as Rich Bartlett, the shop owner and manager for over 5 years, showed the GT guys what a truly pro looking BMX shop is all about. The GT guys had a chance to meet a lot of customers who showed up for the widely publicized GT Promo. Rich had the event promo’d all week on the local alternative rock station “100.1 The Edge”. The multiple promo spots during the week, announced the visit of Eric, Randy and Mike, brought quite a few listeners out to meet the pros. The station had a live feed right from the shop from 3pm til 6pm. Eric, Randy and Mike all did live interviews with “Fat Head” the DJ that went really well. Both the shop and GT got really good plugs from the radio spots.

Both Mike and Randy also did news paper interviews as well. The GT guys gave the fans autographed team posters, some GT stickers and GT bike catalogs. Stumpfhauser, Day, and Rupe even had their personal race bikes on hand to show off to the fans. The visit was a total success. Thanks Rich!
